Enhancing climate action through peatlands

Published by: Julie Van Offelen on November 7, 2022

Enhancing climate action through peatlands

Context:

The session aims at demonstrating how countries have integrated, enhanced or are implementing peatland-related climate commitments, in particular those contained in NDCs, sharing multi-stakeholder and innovative collaborative management approaches and inspiring countries to consider or further enhance climate action in peatland landscapes. Case examples from different regions will be presented, highlighting good practices and lessons learned.

Key aims:

1. To showcase how key countries have included and enhanced NDCs through peatlands and have implemented them.

2. To use clear examples of real peatland restoration action to enthuse other countries and show that Climate Action on Peatlands is doable and affordable.

3. To show that good planning, inclusive of financing strategies, create strong and lasting results.
