Wetlands – crucial for national climate commitments

The key objectives of the event will be: 
To highlight the crucial role of wetlands, in particular peatlands and mangroves in achieving national climate change mitigation and adaptation goals
To share insights and lessons learned on the key countries’ national processes and the inclusion of wetlands into their climate commitments and actionaction strategies
To launch a summary brief and share the key results of the NDC wetlands and peatlands and mangrove analysis
To highlight the outcomes of the side event in support of the universal UNEA4/16 Resolution on Peatlands and specific Ramsar Convention on Wetlands resolutions. 
To encourage countries and partners to share their expertise and approaches with the Global Peatlands Initiative.
